Using Job Scout

Job Scout is a special search feature for job seekers who are registered with AJB. You can use Job Scout to automatically rerun the searches that you have saved. After a search is rerun, AJB will send you an email notifying you that the search has been redone and informing you of any new job opportunities meeting your criteria.

Note: Before you can use Job Scout, you must register with AJB (see "Home Page" ), and save at least one search (see "Saving a Job Search" ).

Accessing Job Scout

Click on JOB SCOUTS on the account menu. The Job Scouts screen appears.

Activating or Deactivating a Job Scout

When you can create a job scout, you must activate it before it will run. If you create the job search and the job scout simultaneously, you can activate the scout at the same time. If you create a job scout from any Job Search except Job Number Search, you must access Edit Job Scout to activate your search. You can also deactivate a job scout without deleting it.

On the Job Scouts screen, click on the Scout Name you want to activate or deactivate. The Edit Job Scout screen appears.
To activate a job scout, select a schedule from the Run Scout drop-down list. Job Scout will run the search as scheduled, and e-mail you with updates.
Or
To deactivate a job scout, select Never from the Run Scout drop-down list.
Click the SAVE button. The Job Scouts screen reappears, and your scout is activated or deactivated.

Running Job Scout on Demand

You can run Job Scout on demand, and the results will display on your screen. When you run Job Scout on demand, all the results are displayed, not just the updated information you receive in e-mail. Job Scout on Demand does not affect your scheduled job scouts.

Select the radio button to the left of the Scout Name you want to run.
Note: Only one job scout can be selected at a time.
Click the RUN SCOUT button. The job scout you selected is run, and the Job Search Results screen appears. See "Viewing the Job Search Results" for additional information.

Deleting a Job Scout

Choose one of your job scouts by selecting the radio button to the left of the Scout Name, and click the DELETE button. The Delete Job Scout screen appears.
Click the DELETE button. The Job Scouts screen reappears with the selected job scout deleted.
Or
Click the CANCEL button. The Job Scouts screen reappears with no changes.
