Entering Job Title and Location
Note: Fields marked with a asterisk (*) are required.
- Click on the Job Title field, and type the job title.
- Click on the Your Company’s Job ID field, and type your company’s job identification number using letters, numbers, hyphens, underscores, and forward slashes.
Note: You have the option of selecting an occupational category to enhance the Job Seeker Search function. In addition, attaching an occupational category to your job allows you to access additional occupation-specific information to help you construct your job order. If you do not want to select an occupation category for this job, America’s Job Bank staff will do it for you. Skip to instruction 7.- Click the SELECT CATEGORY button. The Job Search screen appears.
- Select the category that best describes the job you are looking for.
- The category you select expands to list sub-categories and occupations.
Note: Job categories are in bold. Individual occupations are in normal type.- Select a job title by clicking on it. The Job Builder Job Title/Location screen appears with the job title you selected displayed at the right of the SELECT CATEGORY button.
Note: If you want to change your Job Category/Title selection, click on the SELECT CATEGORY button, and repeat steps 4–6.- If you are posting multiple jobs, select the Please indicate if this Job Order is for multiple check box, and complete as much of the location information in step 8, 9, and 10 as possible.
Note: If you select this check box, the City, State, and ZIP Code fields are not required. Enter only information that is applicable to the multiple jobs.- Click on the City field, and type the name of the city where the job is located.
- Select a state from the State drop-down list.
- Click on the ZIP Code field, and type a five- or nine- digit ZIP Code.
- Select a country from the Country drop-down list.
- Click on the Job Start Date field, and type the start date, if applicable, as a two-digit month, a slant bar, two-digit day, a slant bar, and four-digit year (MM/DD/YYYY) or as a two-digit month, a slant bar, and a four-digit year (MM/YYYY).
- Click on the Job End Date field, and type the end date, if applicable, as a two-digit month, a slant bar, two-digit day, a slant bar, and four-digit year (MM/DD/YYYY) or as a two-digit month, a slant bar, and a four-digit year (MM/YYYY).
- Select the Permanent or Temporary radio button to describe the Position Type.
- Select the Full Time or Part Time radio button to describe the Job Classification.
- Click on the Number of Positions available field, and enter an appropriate number.
- Click on the Number of Hours/Week field, and enter the number of hours per week this job requires.
- Click on the Salary Range $ field, and enter a salary range in dollars. Do not use commas, letters (for example 50K), or decimals unless cents are part of the salary.
Note: If you do not enter a salary, your job will not be considered when a job seeker does a search using salary as a search criterion.
Note: Salary/pay unit cannot exceed the equivalent of $500/hour (i.e. $1,040,000 a year).- Click on the per drop-down list, and select hour, day, week, month, or year to describe the salary range.
- If you wish to reference wage and salary information, click the View Wage and Salary Information hyperlink. A separate browser window opens with wage and salary information.
- Click on the Company Homepage field. If you entered a company homepage when you registered, the URL appears. If you want to change the URL on this job posting, type the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) address in this field to include the Hyper-Text Transport Protocol (HTTP). For example, if you were entering the URL for the New York State Department of Labor, you would type http://www.labor.state.ny.us.
- When you have finished, click the BACK to return to the Job Builder Enter Contact Information screen.
Or
Click on the PROCEED TO NEXT STEP button. The Job Builder Enter Job Description screen appears.
Or
Click the PREVIEW button to see what your job posting looks like at this point.
Or
Click the SAVE TO FINISH LATER button. The Job Builder Job Saved screen appears. If you have not entered a job title, you will be prompted to do so. You can access this job posting or delete it from the Job Manager screen. See "Editing or Completing a Job Posting" or "Deleting a Job Opening" for additional instructions.
